I meant to "blog" almost every day last week, but life was a whirlwind. I was actually thankful for the odd hours I worked last week -- a Sunday shift, a late day Wednesday, off Friday. I ended up writing off-beat, refreshing stories.
Last Tuesday I went fishing with the Outdoor reporter. My first-person story about that will be available in the outdoor section of Kansas.com on Sunday... along with an embarrassing string of photos.
And Wednesday I went with a photographer to play with horses and write about the opportunity to adopt them. You can see the story, video and slideshow here.
I can't believe next week is my last week at the Eagle. Once I recover from the culture shock of heading straight back to sorority rush in August, I will really miss working here. Lord willing, I'll get an equally or even more amazing job in Washington state! Hopefully another Sunday shift will give me some time to chip away at the sparkling job resumes and inquiry letters I should be sending out. Yay for bittersweet early graduations.
Until then, I'll be trucking away at my last week of work. So if I don't blog as regularly as I'd like to... check Kansas.com to see the articles I've been writing instead.
This is kind of a mumbo jumbo of things I wish I had time to blog about more...
An update: I did write a couple articles about the woman in the motorcycle accident that I talked about in the previous blog. She is now back in Wichita, and everything but her commercial airline ticket should be paid for by Tricare.
Right now, newsroom employees look like fish in a reverse fishbowl, mesmerized at the torrential downpour as it drips down the windows like thick glaze on a donut. Even the hectic newsroom stands still to watch the rain sometimes, thinking about the many reasons they will stay inside, commenting on the lovely umbrellas locked in their cars. As the Eagle puts it... "Now you know."
